This year's service project was making no-sew fleece hats and scarves for the homeless. Everyone donated fleece to be used. Even the littlest students worked hard to help. We are still working on finishing all the hats and scarves to be delivered to the local homeless shelter.

Thankfulness
We earned the thankfulness badge the week of Thanksgiving! Students kept a 30-day thankfulness journal, thought of ways we can show thankfulness to others, learned Thanksgiving trivia, and created a thankful tree listing things they are thankful for on leaves.

Heraldry
We spent 2 meetings covering the topic of Heraldry. We learned a lot about the history and details of heraldry, what is was and what it wasn't, what the symbols and colors mean, who wore coats of arms and more. We then designed and painted our own cardboard shields.

Pumpkins
We covered the pumpkins badge by learning many facts about pumpkins, watching some videos, eating roasted pumpkin seeds, and making a pumpkin craft. We used pre-printed pumpkin templates and made zentangle designs which we then colored with watercolor pencils and painted over with water to achieve the look we wanted.

Mosaics
We worked on the Mosaics badge for September. We had a special guest, Dawn Squire, come and talk about her mosaic art and show some of the amazing pieces she has created.

We watched some great YouTube videos about the history of mosaics and looked at photos of mosaics from ancient times up through the present. We did three different crafts: a simple foam sticker mosaic for the younger children, a sticker-by-number page, and a paper mosaic designed by each student.
