Duct Tape

Today we worked on the Duct Tape badge!  We had 23 children present for our first meeting of 2020.  We learned many new things about duct tape.  There were two different projects available, duct tape wallets and a duct tape pencil bag or zip-top pouch.  Duct tape can be very difficult to work with!  Some were much stickier than others.  Preschool and Level 1 students completed their badge today!  Higher levels have a few more optional requirements to finish.

Tuesday, February 4, 2020

We are pleased to announce that Kids of Faith Club registration is now open for 2020!  We will meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month beginning March 10th.  The first badge we will be working on is Duct Tape!  Please bring duct tape (Dollar Tree sells many colors and patterns) and sharp scissors for each child.

Registration forms and fees for 2020 will be collected at the meeting.

Snow badge - January 2018

January was a very appropriate month to work on the Snow badge!  We learned about how snowflakes are formed and looked at very close-up views of snowflakes.  We made paper snowflakes.  We learned about snow fall records around the country, state and our local area.

Thankfulness - November 2017

For November we worked on the Thankfulness badge.  Our group project was a Thankfulness tree.

We used this for our Thankfulness Journal

Pipe Cleaner Badge

For the month of October, we worked on the Pipe Cleaner Badge.  During our first meeting, we tried making flowers, wreaths and our names.  One child was brave enough to attempt the 3d pumpkin!  We realized that pipe cleaners are very versatile and many creative ideas were shared.  During our second meeting, we learned about the history of pipe cleaners and the many different uses for them.  We also watched a video about a young man in Alaska who makes a living at creating amazing items out of pipe cleaners!  Then we attempted to make pipe cleaner baskets.

About Me Badge

To kick of the new year, we began with the "About Me" badge.  At our first meeting, each child filled out a simple "About Me" booklet with information such as their birthday, family, favorite things, and a self-portrait then they shared with the group.  We read Bible passages about God creating us and how valuable we are to Him.  During our second meeting, we wrote acrostic poems with our names and did a craft using our handprint.

I will praise you; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:
marvelous are your works;
and that my soul knows right well.

Board Game Night

Board game night! We talked about board game etiquette (Who goes first? Should you let a little kid win?), types of games (strategy, party, educational, etc), and I encouraged everyone to try something they hadn't played before. Games we had were Life, Yahtzee, 3D Connect 4, Blokus, Run For President, and cards.
