Shoebox Gifts

In November, we participated in a shoebox gift program.  I particularly love this program because it is run by a missionary family in Mexico, and they take photos of each and every child receiving their shoebox gift!  It is so special for our children to be able to see the children who their gifts go to.  It makes it a little bit more personal for them.  This year I took photos of my children with their gifts before we mailed them, so it would be easier to pick them out.  Here are the "before and afters"!  We decided to use bags this year rather than boxes, because they fit better in the shipping box and were a bit cheaper on postage.

Tonight's meeting - Cancelled

Tonight's meeting is cancelled.  Christmas shoeboxes can be dropped off to me or the church through Sunday.  I will e-mail the songs for Christmas caroling so everyone can get a start on practicing!  We will catch up at our next meeting, Friday, December 2, at the church.  God bless.

November 2010 - Missionary

On November 5, the YHSA Missions Club came and spoke to our group about Missions - what it is, why it's important and how to get involved! They gave us information on some great agencies such as Child Evagelism Fellowship and Global Aid Network. We hope to volunteer with the the Club in the future!

On November 19, we collected shoebox gifts to be sent to our missionary family in Mexico, the Lockwoods.

Our shoeboxes were sent off to the Lockwood family who in turn handed them out to children there in Mexico where they live and minister. They posted pictures on their website of many of the boxes being given, and I was able to locate almost all of our boxes in the pictures! What a neat way to see our giving in action.
