This year's service project was making no-sew fleece hats and scarves for the homeless. Everyone donated fleece to be used. Even the littlest students worked hard to help. We are still working on finishing all the hats and scarves to be delivered to the local homeless shelter.

Service Project
In November, our club volunteered to do yard work for an elderly couple who was facing some health challenges. Adults and children worked together to rake leaves, clean out flower beds and do general yard cleanup. We learned some new skills and also had some fun!

First Meeting & Service Project
This month will be our first meeting of the new school year! We are excited to meet together again and share God's Word as well as be a blessing to other. Our first service project will be assembling craft kits for Caitlin's Smiles, which is a non-profit organization based in Harrisburg, PA that delivers arts
and crafts kits to children facing chronic or life-threatening
illnesses. We have 4 different craft kits that we will be assembling to donate to this wonderful organization. If you are interested in joining us, please send me an email ASAP at nikkidonahue@verizon.net!

Service Project, October 2014 - part 2
During our second meeting of the month, we made the no-sew fleece scarves to bless the children at the family homeless shelter.
Service Project, October 2014
I have a heart for the local homeless family shelter, which just happens to be right around the corner from where we meet. We decided to make simple no-sew fleece hats and scarves to bless the children staying at the shelter.
The Process
The finished product - HATS
We used a very simple pattern we found online and all the children enjoyed making hats!

Shoebox Gifts
In November, we participated in a shoebox gift program. I particularly love this program because it is run by a missionary family in Mexico, and they take photos of each and every child receiving their shoebox gift! It is so special for our children to be able to see the children who their gifts go to. It makes it a little bit more personal for them. This year I took photos of my children with their gifts before we mailed them, so it would be easier to pick them out. Here are the "before and afters"! We decided to use bags this year rather than boxes, because they fit better in the shipping box and were a bit cheaper on postage.
